Got a new VPS and want it secure and ready before you deploy anything?

I will set up and secure one new Linux VPS that you own.

Basic - Secure Base Setup: system updates, a sudo user, SSH key login, root and password login disabled, a firewall with only the ports you need, fail2ban for SSH, automatic security updates, time zone and time sync.

Standard - Ready for Docker Apps: Basic plus Docker Engine and Docker Compose, swap and log rotation, tested with a sample container.

Premium - Setup with Backups: Standard plus daily backups of one folder and one database to S3-compatible storage or a second server, with a restore test.

Every package includes a login check, a list of open ports and a short handover guide.

At my job I manage about 15 servers and VMs across four providers. I moved server access to SSH keys, set up nftables and fail2ban protection, and run backups that are checked by restoring them.

You provide a new VPS with root or sudo access. Website deployment, migration and ongoing support are separate services.

FAQ

Which package should I choose?

Basic if you only need a secure server. Standard if you plan to run apps in Docker. Premium if you also want daily backups with a restore test.

Can you secure a server that already runs my website?

These packages are for a new VPS. A live server needs an assessment and a custom offer first.

Which VPS providers do you work with?

Any provider where you have root or sudo access, for example Hetzner, DigitalOcean, Contabo or Hostinger.

Will my server be hack-proof?

No setup can guarantee that. This setup closes common risks: password brute force, unneeded open ports and missing security updates.

Can I get locked out of my server?

I keep the current session open while you test the new SSH key login. Password login is disabled only after you confirm that key login works.

Where are backups stored in Premium?

In an S3-compatible bucket or on a second server that you own. Storage fees are yours. Backups are not kept on the same server.
