Have you just finished your first novel (congrats!) but you feel like something might be off? Or have you finished it awhile ago and it's just sitting around because you're not sure how to fix a world building, character arc or plot hole problem? Then let me have a look and help you!
Alpha reading is different than beta reading. Alpha reading means I'll be perhaps the first set of eyes on your manuscript besides your own, so for me that means being a compassionate and supportive reader.
I'll be looking at big picture elements such as world-building and character arcs, whilst looking out for plot holes, inaccuracies within the narrative and anything that sticks out. This will all be summed up in a reader report, along with advice and encouragement.
Because this is your first or rough draft, I won't be pointing out grammatical errors or doing line edits. At this point in the process we're assuming some things will change and usually proofreading and line editing is the last step in the process.

How is an Alpha Reader different than a Beta Reader?
An alpha reader is usually the first person who reads a finished manuscript besides the author. The author is looking for a fresh set of eyes and advice on what's working and what needs more work. I handle this with care and compassion, whilst giving supportive advice and feedback.
How do I know if I need an alpha reader?
If you've finished your novel but you're unsure of your story's logic, character's motivation or some other flaw and you want someone to sanity check it before you begin to edit.
What will I receive from you?
You'll get a reader report where I provide feedback on what is and isn't working in your story, including plot, characters and pacing in a supportive and actionable way.
What genres do you read?
I like and read most genres, however I’m especially fond of literary fiction, historical fiction and science fiction.
