Esperienza lavorativa

Trinity_College Dublin

Postdoctoral Researcher at Boston Scientific and AMBER

Trinity College Dublin

Jan 2025 - Dec 202511 mos

This work, following from my PhD, aimed to deliver a commercial tool for the design and optimisation of bespoke bioinspired, 3D-printed, polymer heart valve leaflets using finite element modelling and design of experiments.

Boston_Scientific

Postgraduate Researcher

Boston Scientific

Sep 2020 - Jan 20254 yrs 4 mos

My PhD work, partnered with Boston Scientific, focused on the optimisation of bioinspired polymer heart valve leaflets for Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacements (TAVR) using additive manufacturing and finite element modelling. In this project, I lead the development of native tissue-informed fibre reinforced polymer heart valve leaflets. I created a computational framework using finite element modelling and Design of Experiments (DOE) to direct design and optimisation of a melt electrowritten (MEW) fibre reinforcement structure embedded within an elastomeric material.

Medtronic

Co-op Student

Medtronic

Jan 2020 - Aug 20207 mos

Co-op student working on new TAVR technologies. In this position I lead a feasibility assessment of a novel device, developing new test methods to assess its function and collaborating with team members and other engineers to achieve the best possible design. This work was showcased at Medtronic's internal European Science and Technology conference. I also helped organise and run a weekly department-wide event to stimulate innovation upon a switch to working from home due to COVID-19.
