I have built my experience around helping writers turn rough manuscripts into polished, readable, publication-ready work. My editing work covers poetry, fiction, nonfiction, memoirs, self-help, and other long-form written projects. Over time, I have developed a careful, detail-focused approach to manuscript editing, with particular attention to sentence structure, clarity, consistency, grammar, punctuation, readability, and the overall quality of the writing. Depending on the needs of each project, I work across line editing, copy editing, proofreading, and developmental-level improvements. My approach is not to make every manuscript sound the same. I focus on preserving the author's individual voice while identifying areas where the writing can be clearer, stronger, smoother, and more engaging. I also pay close attention to consistency in terminology, formatting, tone, and style throughout a manuscript. I have worked with different types of written material and understand that every project requires a different level of editorial attention. Some manuscripts need a light polish, while others require deeper work on sentence construction, organization, flow, and overall readability. Beyond correcting errors, I aim to make the editing process useful to the author. I look for patterns and weaknesses that may affect the reading experience and make thoughtful improvements without unnecessarily rewriting the author's work. My work is guided by three priorities: protect the author's voice, improve the quality of the writing, and deliver careful, dependable results. I value clear communication, attention to detail, confidentiality, and meeting agreed deadlines. My goal with every manuscript is to leave the author with a cleaner, stronger, more professional piece of writing that they can confidently move toward publication.
