Will the files you create work on Amazon KDP and IngramSpark?
Yes, absolutely. I deliver industry-standard files: an EPUB file for ebooks (accepted by Amazon KDP, Apple Books, Kobo, and Barnes & Noble) and a high-resolution PDF for print-on-demand services like KDP Print and IngramSpark.
What file format do I need to send you to get started?
Please provide your final, proofread manuscript in Microsoft Word format (.doc or .docx). The cleaner the document, the faster I can deliver your formatted book.
Do you provide the editable Vellum source file?
The Vellum source file is included exclusively in the Premium Package or can be purchased as a Gig Extra. Please note that you must own a Mac and purchase a license for the Vellum software to open and edit this file yourself.
Can you format books with many images, tables, or complex graphs?
Vellum is designed primarily for fiction and simple non-fiction (mostly text). While I can include some images, it is not suitable for complex layouts like textbooks or cookbooks. If your book has more than 10 images, please message me for a custom quote before ordering.
Do I need to own Vellum to use your service?
No! That is the best part of this gig. I own the software and the Mac hardware so you don't have to. I will provide you with the final "Retail Ready" files that you can upload directly to Amazon.
Can you help me fix a specific error message I got from KDP?
Yes. If you are stuck in the "KDP Previewer" with margin or bleed errors, please message me with a screenshot of the error. I can likely fix it quickly using Vellum’s standardized settings.
Do you design book covers?
No, this gig is for the interior layout and formatting only. However, if you send me your existing ebook cover (JPG), I will embed it inside the ebook file so it appears correctly on Kindle devices.
What if I find a typo after you deliver the files?
My packages include revisions to ensure the formatting is perfect. If you need to fix typos in the text itself, I am happy to do small batches of corrections. Extensive text rewriting after the formatting phase may require a small extra fee.
Which trim sizes can you format for?
I can format for all standard industry trim sizes. The most common are 5x8, 5.5x8.5, and 6x9 inches. If you aren't sure which one to pick, I can recommend the standard size for your specific genre.
