This is STEP TWO of my document editing process. Please see my other gigs for steps one and three.
I will content edit your document at the sentence level (copy/line/stylistic/mechanical), ensuring clear, polished text. I'll improve clarity, flow, and tone, and I'll correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation, fixing awkward phrasing, redundancies, inconsistencies, and formatting errors, all while preserving your voice.
You'll receive:
- a Track Changes copy with comments
- a Clean Copy for easy review
- consistency and formatting clean-up throughout
- our proprietary Blueprint and editing checklist to help you maintain consistency as you revise
This package is best for documents that have already been reviewed by a few sets of eyes and should be completed after a structural edit (by an editor or by you).

What qualifies you to content edit my document?
I have a BA in French and journalism, an MA in publishing and creative writing, and I’m a contract editor for a major U.S. proofreading service and have completed content edits on hundreds of documents.
What is a content edit (and what isn’t it)?
A content edit is sentence-level editing for clarity, flow, tone, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and consistency. It is not a structural/developmental edit, and it is not final-stage proofreading.
When should I book this service?
This service is best after a structural edit, once your organization and major content decisions are stable.
What types of documents do you accept?
Academic papers, essays, reports, business documents, proposals, website copy, manuals, and other general professional documents.
What will I receive?
You’ll receive a Clean Copy and a Track Changes copy with in-line edits, plus our proprietary Blueprint to help you keep your document consistent.
Do you follow APA/MLA/Chicago style?
Yes. If you specify a style guide (APA, MLA, CMOS, etc.), I will adhere to those conventions as I edit.
Will you check my citations and references?
I can check citation formatting and consistency and flag missing or mismatched entries, but I do not verify sources unless requested separately.
How confidential is this?
Completely confidential. I will not share or reuse your content (NDA available on request).
What do you need from me to start?
Your document file (Word preferred; PDF accepted), word count, document type, goal/purpose, dialect (US/UK/etc.), and any required style guide.
Do you accept AI-assisted documents?
I DO NOT accept AI-generated or AI-assisted ACADEMIC work. The basic use of grammar tools (e.g., Grammarly, ProWritingAid) is welcome. I DO accept AI-generated content for non-academic materials (e.g., marketing or web copy) without a defined author.
