Base44 Debugging: Workflow Repair
HarborChase • Freelance
Jan 2018 - Dec 2018 • 11 mos
Diagnosed and fixed a Base44 operations tool used by a logistics team to track shipments, drivers and delivery statuses. After several rounds of edits, records were duplicating, status updates stopped saving, and a key dashboard showed incorrect totals. I started by auditing the entity structure and found that two entities were referencing each other inconsistently, which caused the duplicate records. I corrected the relationships, wrote a cleanup process to merge existing duplicates safely, and added validation so the problem could not return. The status update bug came from a backend function that ran on the wrong trigger and overwrote fields it shouldn’t have touched, so I rewrote the logic and tested it against realistic edge cases such as simultaneous updates and missing values. The dashboard totals were wrong because the filters didn’t account for archived shipments, which I fixed and then verified by comparing results against a manual count. I also improved the experience for dispatchers by speeding up a slow list page, adding search and filter options, and fixing a mobile layout that cut off important columns. To protect the client’s work going forward, I documented the data model, explained which prompts tend to break existing logic, and set up a simple testing checklist to run after every change. The tool became reliable again within a few days, and the team regained trust in their numbers and daily workflow without having to rebuild from scratch.
Lovable Bug Fix: Auth and Data Rescue
Cedar Clink Hardware • Part time
Jan 2017 - Dec 2017 • 11 mos
Rescued a Lovable-built property listing app that had stopped working after several rounds of AI-generated changes. The client reported users getting stuck in a login redirect loop, listings failing to save, and random blank pages. I began by reproducing each issue, then traced them through the browser console, network tab and Supabase logs instead of prompting blindly. The redirect loop came from a conflict between the auth state listener and a protected route component that rendered before the session had loaded, so I restructured it to wait for the session check. The failed saves were caused by row-level security policies that blocked inserts for authenticated users, so I rewrote the policies and added proper ownership columns. The blank pages traced back to unhandled null values in components that expected data before the query resolved, which I fixed with correct loading states and error boundaries. I also found two duplicate Supabase client instances causing inconsistent sessions and consolidated them into one. Along the way I removed unused code, standardized the folder structure, and documented what I changed in plain language so the client understood each fix. I tested the complete flow of signup, login, creating a listing, editing and logging out on desktop and mobile. The app went from unusable to stable within two days, and the client now has a clear checklist for avoiding the same problems when they continue building with Lovable.
Base44: Client Portal
BrightPath Consulting LLC • Freelance
Feb 2016 - Dec 2016 • 10 mos
Designed and launched a secure client portal on Base44 for a small consulting firm that was managing project updates, documents and invoices over email. I mapped their workflow first, then structured the data as Base44 entities for clients, projects, tasks, documents and invoices, with relationships that made it easy to pull up everything tied to a single account. I set up role-based access so clients saw only their own projects while staff could manage everything, and I tested the permissions with dummy accounts to make sure nothing leaked between clients. Using Base44’s built-in authentication, I added invitation-based onboarding so the team could bring on new clients in minutes. I built a project timeline view, a file upload area, and a status dashboard, then connected email notifications so clients were alerted whenever a milestone changed. Where the built-in tools weren’t enough, I wrote backend functions to automate recurring tasks such as weekly progress summaries. I refined the interface through several rounds of prompting and manual fixes so it matched the firm’s branding and felt professional rather than templated. After launch, I connected a custom domain and recorded a training video for the staff. The portal replaced scattered email threads with one organized workspace, cut back-and-forth messages significantly, and gave the firm a more polished experience to show prospective clients. They now manage onboarding and updates themselves without needing a developer for routine changes.
