Third-Party Booking Wizard Tracking for Meta Pixel & Google Analytics Project Overview The client was using a third-party booking wizard embedded on their website (via iframe). Because of this setup, standard Meta Pixel and Google Analytics tracking was not recording purchases and leads correctly. Ad platforms could not reliably optimize campaigns due to missing or inconsistent conversion data. The main goal of this project was to accurately track bookings as conversions in Meta Ads and Google Analytics 4, even though the booking system was hosted externally. Challenges Faced: - The booking platform was embedded as an iframe, so conversion events were not firing on the main website. - No default thank-you or order confirmation page was available on the main domain. - Meta Pixel and GA4 could not detect purchase events automatically. - Risk of duplicate or missing conversions, which affects ad optimization and reporting accuracy. Solution & Strategy: - Implemented the full setup using Google Tag Manager (GTM) - Used event listener code with postMessage to capture booking events from the third-party wizard (cross-platform tracking) - Sent conversion data to Google Analytics 4 and Meta Pixel - Configured server-side tracking using Stape to improve data accuracy and reliability - Ensured proper event deduplication between browser and server events Deliverables: - Fully configured Meta Pixel & GA4 tracking - Google Tag Manager setup - Conversion testing and validation - Screen-recorded explanation video showing: - How tracking works - Where to see conversions in GA4 and Meta - Proof that events are firing correctly
