Your GraphQL API is either not built yet, or it is built and something about it is wrong.
I build and fix GraphQL APIs with Apollo Server, Node.js and TypeScript - and on Ruby on Rails when that is where your data lives.
Fixing:
- Resolvers returning null, undefined or the wrong shape
- N+1 queries making every request slow
- Schema and type errors, broken migrations between schema versions
- Auth and permissions - who can read which field
- Apollo Client cache not updating after a mutation
Building:
- Schema design: types, queries, mutations, relationships
- Resolvers wired to PostgreSQL, MongoDB or your existing REST endpoints
- Authentication and field-level authorisation
- Subscriptions for realtime data
- A React or Next.js front end consuming it, if you need that too
I work in Node, React, Next.js, Rails and PostgreSQL every day, so I can follow the problem from your client cache down to the database query. Most GraphQL sellers only cover one end of that.

Do you use Apollo Server or something else?
Apollo Server by default, because it is the safest thing to hand over. I also work with GraphQL Yoga, Mercurius, and graphql-ruby if your API already uses one of them - I will not rewrite your stack to suit mine.
My GraphQL API is slow. Can you fix that?
Usually yes, and usually it is N+1 queries - one request quietly firing hundreds of database calls. DataLoader batching, proper joins and indexes fix most of it. Send me a slow query and I will tell you which it is.
Can you convert our REST API to GraphQL?
Yes, and often the right first step is a GraphQL layer that sits in front of your existing REST endpoints rather than a rewrite. You get the API you want without touching what already works.
Do you need access to our production database?
No. A repository and a development or staging database are enough for almost everything. Please do not send production credentials to anyone on a marketplace, including me.
Do you use AI tools to write the code?
I use an AI-assisted workflow to move faster, and I review, test and take responsibility for everything I deliver. You are hiring the engineer, not the tool.
