WIND RESISTANT BEACH TOWEL DESIGN

This project involved the complete technical development and production documentation for a wind resistant beach towel designed to remain stable in outdoor environments. The work focused on creating a detailed and production ready technical package to guide manufacturing and ensure consistent product quality. I produced precise 2D construction drawings with full measurements, clearly defining the towel dimensions (180 × 90 cm), structural layout, and border configuration. A ballast placement system was engineered within the hem to prevent the towel from lifting in windy conditions. The layout specifies the exact positioning, spacing, and quantity of 18 internal ballast pieces, ensuring balanced weight distribution along both long and short edges. The project also includes technical hem cross-sections illustrating the internal channel structure, compartment divisions, and stitch margins required to secure the ballast pieces. Detailed diagrams show the internal strip construction, seam placement, and reinforcement zones, particularly at the corners. In addition, I prepared basic sewing and construction guidelines covering stitch types, compartment separation, hem assembly, and durability requirements. These specifications ensure the internal ballast system remains secure through repeated washing and use while maintaining a clean, premium exterior finish.
