I am a DevOps Engineer at SIMEC System Limited, working in the Software Development department. My main focus is to connect development and operations by automating processes, improving delivery pipelines, and ensuring our systems are reliable, scalable, and secure. Key responsibilities include: - Designing, maintaining, and optimising CI/CD pipelines for seamless delivery. - Managing cloud infrastructure with a focus on reliability and scalability. - Using Docker and Kubernetes to containerise applications and oversee deployments. - Supporting developers in enhancing build processes and deployment strategies. - Monitoring and troubleshooting production systems to maintain high availability. - Collaborating with various teams to implement best DevOps and automation practices. Some of my achievements and contributions are: - Deploying applications using automated pipelines, which reduced manual work and downtime. - Improving performance and reliability with enhanced monitoring. - Assisting in migrating legacy processes to containerised, cloud-ready architectures. - Fostering a more collaborative culture among developers, QA, and operations teams. Here are some of the technologies and tools I utilise: - Containerisation & Orchestration: Docker, Kubernetes - Cloud Platforms: AWS, DigitalOcean - CI/CD Tools: GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins - Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Terraform, Ansible - Monitoring & Logging: Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack - Version Control: Git, GitHub This role allows me to utilise my technical skills and develop alongside a team that values innovation and continual improvement. I enjoy working with modern DevOps practices, solving infrastructure challenges, and ensuring software delivery is swift, reliable, and secure. I aim to become more involved in cloud-native architectures, site reliability engineering, and advanced automation. My goal is to help SIMEC System Limited become even more efficient and scalable.
