Hello, my name is John Penthum, I run a small independent design studio focused on thoughtful design. My work is guided by a strong interest in space, proportion, and geometry. I provide 3D modeling and conceptual design services for architectural and product projects, including lamps, furniture, and everyday objects. I also assist with residential spatial studies and section drawings. I provide design support for clients who need help developing and visualizing ideas across both architectural and product scales. My work focuses on translating early concepts into clear drawings and precise 3D models that help communicate design ideas effectively. For residential projects, I assist with conceptual drawings for renovations and spatial improvements. This often begins with studying an existing layout and exploring ways the space can be reorganized or refined. Through plans and architectural section drawings, I help clarify circulation, proportions, and spatial relationships so clients can better understand the potential of a project before moving forward with development or construction. I also produce 3D models for architectural interiors and spatial studies. These models help clients visualize scale, light, and the overall composition of a space. They are often used to communicate ideas more clearly with collaborators, contractors, or project teams. In addition to architectural work, I develop digital models for product design. Clients frequently approach me with sketches, references, or early concepts that need to be translated into accurate and well-proportioned models. This includes objects such as furniture, everyday products, and lighting pieces. Lamp and lighting design is a particular area of interest for me and one of the types of projects I enjoy working on the most. I enjoy studying the geometry, balance, and proportions of lighting objects and helping refine their form through careful modeling before prototyping or production. My approach is focused on clarity, proportion, and thoughtful design development. I enjoy working closely with clients to help shape their ideas and turn early concepts into clear and well-resolved designs.
