Shopify Gives You Basic Numbers. GA4 Gives You the Why.
Shopify's built-in reports tell you what sold and how much you made.
But they don't tell you why:
- Why did someone visit three times before buying?
- Why do people add to the cart but not check out?
- Why does one traffic source drive revenue while another just drives visits?
GA4 answers these questions, but Shopify and GA4 don't talk to each other cleanly out of the box. Events get missed, data gets duplicated, and what you see in GA4 doesn't match what Shopify reports. That's not your fault. It's a configuration problem.
I set up GA4 specifically for Shopify stores. Full ecommerce event tracking, clean data without duplication, and dashboards that show you what's happening in a language you understand.
This is a good fit if:
- Your Shopify store has GA4 installed, but the data feels off or incomplete.

Does data accuracy matters?
Google Analytic was never 100% accurate. Before the policy and update, we manage to track 80% or more of the data. After cookie consent and iOS update, if you manage to capture 50% to 60% you should be happy and if you get 80% be grateful.
Are you using Google Analytics the right way?
Most client I worked with use GA as an accounting dashboard. They expect the number to match, but if your conversion rate is 0.7 with traffic of 100, your C.R. will still be 0.7 with traffic of a 1000, no matter how accurate your data. So it is irrelevant. GA is to help you answer questions.
What is Google Analytic Enhanced Ecommerce Tracking for Shopify?
The tracking of view item list, view item, add to cart, view cart, begin checkout, add shipping info, add payment info, purchase and more. All this come with product information and values. To track almost each step of the customer journey.
What cloud platform I use for GTM Server setup?
I am familiar with both Google cloud, AWS and Stap.io. I recommend stape.io for the low cost.
What is the GTM web installation?
We install GA4 tracking using the GTM web container. Meaning, GTM will send data to GA 4 directly. This mode is called third party installation. When it comes to third party, your data can be blocked by ad blocker, iOS devices, and browser who restrict tracking.
What is the Premium package installation?
Here, the installation is done using the GTM server container. Meaning, GTM will send data to server and then to GA 4 server. This mode is called first party installation. It gives you more data and help you extend the cookie lifetime on iOS devices.
