I have been writing poetry and stories, both long and short form, seriously since around 2022 when I began submitting my work for open calls and competitions. I continued my interest to degree level and plan to pursue it up to PHD level in order to lecture. University Modules of Interest Contemporary Storytelling - 88% Thinking like a Writer - 88% Contemporary Postcolonial Fictions and Cultures - 83% Dissertation - A creative investigation into the application and innovation of formal devices within the genre of Magical Realism My own personal interests in writing include very technical and form-breaking pieces, creating new and interactive experiences for the reader through techniques that range all the way from directing second person narratives to subtly unreliable narrators in otherwise trustworthy stories. During my first year of uni, my work appeared in the University of Surrey's Literary Journal Serif Forms (before I started to work for it) and the Cardiff Met Anthology. I have a portolio of all my previously published and now retired pieces on my Substack @mjcampbellwriting. I am currently in a heavy round of competition and journal submissions, so this may be updated around February 2027.
