A three card spread is designed to guide you down a path of spiritual growth and healing by illuminating the path you were on, the path you are on, and the path you will be on if you continue in your present state. Like a leaf falling into a river, your path is destined to reach a certain point, but lots of other outside forces can either help or hinder your movement forward, and can change your course altogether, for either good or ill.
A runic deck is different than standard tarot in that, rather than asking a specific question and only getting an answer to that one question, the guidance offered by a runic deck is much more broad, encompassing the whole of your well-being, growth, and movement forward. To that end, there are almost no negative messages from my readings. They are usually almost always positive lights of guidance along your path.
