Business Analytics Internship
Pepsi Cola -Bottlers Lahore • Part time
Jul 2025 - Aug 2025 • 1 mo
During the internship at Shafi Spinning Mills (July 4 – August 8), I worked as a Business Analytics Intern in the Finance Department directly reporting to the Finance Manager. My job was mainly to convert the department's unstructured and raw financial and operational information into meaningful and actionable information using interactive dashboards. Designed and developed various dashboards using Power BI and Tableau, showing financial metrics and allowing the Finance Manager and other stakeholders to monitor performance trends and make informed decisions without having to manually comb through spreadsheets. One of the primary aspects of my role was to extract raw data from the company's internal systems using Python, a task that was previously done manually and was slow and inconsistent. This automation saved a lot of time for the data collection process and provided accuracy and timeliness in the data that was fed into the dashboards. I also found that the department's normal data entry was very inefficient and could be done manually with a high risk of human error. To address this, I created and put into place a form-based automation system, which made it easier to input the data, decreased repetitive tasks, and ensured that the data was more accurate and consistent throughout the various records. I was able to get to know the Finance Manager really well during the internship, and regularly present my dashboard builds and automation solutions to them, gathering feedback and making changes to my output to ensure it meets the reporting needs of the department. This helped me gain firsthand experience in the real world of business analytics, refine my automation, data visualization, and dashboard design using Python, and understand how to make technical solutions clear and useful for non-technical users, such as finance leadership.
