- Design and operate the backend processing On-Train Data Recorder (train 'black box') data - ~10 GB of raw data daily - using Kafka and Spring, feeding operational and safety reporting for UK train operators. - Own client onboarding end-to-end for national rail operators (Greater Anglia, ScotRail, Transport for Wales): redesigned and automated the integration process, cutting total onboarding time from 3-4 months to under 1.5 months - a reduction of over 60%. - Fully automated TD (Train Describer) client integration by building a Python automation tool with AI coding agents - outside my primary language stack - reducing a 1-2 month, two-person manual effort to 1-2 hours. - Automated OTDR client integration, cutting a 2-3 month manual process to roughly a month, covering data normalization and detection of gaps in operator data feeds. - Run an AI-augmented development workflow (Claude Code, Cursor) in which the majority of implementation code is AI-generated: responsible for system design, correctness and security review, and redesign of AI output before production release. - Diagnosed performance bottlenecks across services and restructured data flows to precompute and store results, reducing load times by 25%. - Automated deployment operations on AWS EC2 with Docker, replacing manual multi-step releases with one-step scripted deploys (start, clean, deploy, rollback). - Built a dynamic menu-filtering backend with live updates driven by database state; re-implemented the scheduled data-backup system; develop with TDD and JUnit.
