Working as a part time 3D artist with Waev 3D gave me the opportunity to specialize deeply in sculpting high quality, print ready character models specifically for the demands of the 3D printing market. My role focused on translating creative concepts into highly detailed digital sculptures while maintaining strict attention to technical accuracy required for successful physical production. Every character I worked on was built with a strong understanding of form, anatomy, and scale, ensuring that both stylized and realistic designs retained visual appeal after printing, not just on screen. A key part of my workflow involved preparing models for flawless 3D printing by carefully optimizing topology, ensuring watertight meshes, correcting non manifold geometry, and maintaining proper wall thickness across all parts. I consistently refined models to eliminate structural weaknesses, avoiding common print issues such as fragile joints, unsupported overhangs, and geometry errors that could cause failures during slicing or printing. I also worked extensively with splitting complex models into multiple parts for easier printing and assembly, designing clean connection points and tolerances that ensured precise fitting in real-world production. Beyond sculpting, I focused heavily on print optimization, decimation without losing detail, and adapting models for different printing methods such as resin and FDM. This included adjusting surface detail levels, hollowing models where necessary to reduce material usage, and ensuring proper drainage holes for resin prints. I also tested models in slicing software to verify printability, making iterative improvements based on real-world constraints, which significantly reduced error rates and improved customer satisfaction. Throughout my time with Waev 3D, I developed a strong ability to balance artistic quality with technical performance, delivering models that are not only visually compelling but also highly functional.
