I will alpha or beta read your manuscript and give feedback

I'm a developmental editor, but offer beta reading in my favourite genres: romance, (cosy) fantasy, YA and thriller. As a beta reader, my primary focus lies in how a reader reacts to the manuscript. I'll provide feedback on what I enjoyed, what I found lacking or confusing, any potential plot holes, and areas where character development, story development and dialogue could be improved.

Essentially, a beta read serves as a test run to gauge how readers may respond to your book before it hits the market.

Examples of questions I might address:

• Did the story immediately draw me in? If not, what could be improved?
• Were there any parts of the story that were unclear or confusing? If so, which ones?
• What was my impression of the setting/world-building?
• Did the characters feel realistic and relatable?
• Were there any parts of the story where it felt like it was dragging? How could this be improved?
• Did the flow and pace of the story feel effective?
• Did the dialogue sound natural and authentic to the characters?
• Was the ending satisfying for me as a reader?

In this gig, I focus on annotations, but a brief reader's report is included. I'm also willing to answer a questionnaire!
