I will upgrade your amazon eks cluster off extended support with no downtime
AWS Cloud and DevOps Engineer for Cost EKS and Terraform
Informazioni su questo servizio
Is your EKS cluster on an old Kubernetes version? AWS moves it to extended support and the control plane goes from $0.10 to $0.60 per hour: 6x more, about $438 instead of $73 a month, per cluster.
I upgrade it safely. I run 500+ EKS clusters day to day, so this is routine work for me.
How it works:
- Version gap check: control plane, node groups, Karpenter / Fargate, support dates
- Scan for deprecated APIs and outdated add-ons (EKS upgrade insights, pluto, Helm charts, CRDs)
- A written upgrade plan you approve before anything changes
- The upgrade, in-place or blue/green, non-prod first, one minor version at a time
- A tested rollback plan for every step, and a report of what changed
PodDisruptionBudgets and surge settings are checked first, so workloads keep running.
Not sure how far behind you are? Order Basic, or message me the output of: aws eks describe-cluster --name YOUR_CLUSTER --query cluster.version

FAQ
Will my apps go down?
The plan is built for zero downtime: AWS upgrades the control plane without stopping workloads, nodes are replaced gradually and PDBs are respected. If an app can't tolerate a rolling restart, I'll tell you before we start.
Can I skip versions?
The EKS control plane goes up one minor version at a time. Premium covers up to 3 steps.
What if something breaks?
Every step has a rollback written before it starts. Node groups can be rolled back; the control plane can't be downgraded, so we test on non-prod first or use blue/green.
Do you do Karpenter, Fargate and managed node groups?
Yes, all three.
Can you upgrade prod?
Yes, after the same upgrade has passed on a non-prod cluster.
