In Rick Rubin’s book, The Creative Act: A Way of Being, he writes, “Look for what you notice, but what no one else sees.” I believe this concept is one of my greatest strengths in the creative process. It is easy to notice elements in art and label them, but truly seeing them beyond the mundane and obvious representation takes critical thinking. I believe this is a strength of mine, because of my awareness, empathy, and joy for conducting in-depth research.
