AWS expert! He fixed my CORS errors. We spent the afternoon looking at my AWS CloudFront distribution and Elastic Beanstalk project, and it turned out that the CORS error was actually a side effect of what was going on. The CloudFront api distribution had https unecessarily set, and this was causing a 504 gateway timeout.
