As a BI consultancy we do a lot of data engineering to support our dashboarding. We work on Azure a lot to support Power BI reporting that we do. In most cases we extract data from APIs as part of data engineering services.
Some APIs that we have extracted data from include:
- Xero
- Quickbooks Online
- SAP HANA
- Zyltus
- Planday
- RMS Cloud
The end deliverables on our side would be
- Python scripts to extract data
- SQL scripts to create table structure
- The whole system set up and deployed on Azure

Can you do incremental data refresh?
Yes, in most cases we implement incremental table refresh logic instead of reloading a table in full. Only when data size is small or it logically makes sense, we replace the data fully in our tables.
Who owns an IP for a script that you create?
You do. The script will be fully owned by you, we would not be selling them to public.
How much do I have to pay Azure for storing data in the cloud?
The charges start from around $15 per month. They may be higher if you have a lot of data behind an API but in most cases $15 per month is enough.
APIs tend to change. Who takes care of maintenance if there is a change?
If there is a change in API structure, we need to charge separately to fix it. This would come under our hourly rate. If something is not working as it should after you approved a delivery, we will take care of it at no additional cost.
How qualified are your data engineers?
A person in our team who takes care of Azure data engineering has professional qualification in Azure and 5 years of experience in data engineering.
